Privacy Policy: Space Colony Idle

Last updated: 8 October 2026

1. Who we are

Space Colony Idle (the "game") is developed and published by ShaumneGames. This policy explains what data is processed when you play, and why.

2. Short summary

3. Age declaration

The first time you open the game we ask for your birth year. The birth year is not stored. Only the age range derived from it ("under 13", "13-17", "18+") is kept on your device, and it determines:

Age rangeAdsPersonalised adsUsage analyticsAutomatic cloud backup
Under 13NoNoNoNo
13-17YesNoYesYes
18+YesSubject to your consentYesYes

This split is required by COPPA in the United States and by the children's provisions of the GDPR in the EU.

4. What data is processed

4.1 Data that stays on your device (never sent to us)

These live in your device's local storage (IndexedDB / app preferences). Deleting the app deletes them.

4.2 Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase. It is switched off when the game starts and is switched on only after you declare that you are 13 or older. It is never switched on for users under 13.

When it is on, event names and in-game numbers are recorded so we can improve the game. The events the game sends itself:

app_session_open, tutorial_step, tutorial_complete, quest_complete, planet_unlock, planet_complete_ceremony, prestige, first_upgrade, first_mission, first_leap, daily_quest_claim, store_open, ftue_01_tap, ftue_02_first_upgrade, ftue_03_auto_income, ftue_04_second_building, ftue_05_first_quest, ftue_06_first_intro, ftue_07_storm_seen, ftue_08_missions_open, ftue_09_mission_sent, ftue_10_first_mission, product_view, offer_shown, offer_dismissed, offer_purchased, iap_purchase, iap_purchase_failed, ad_impression, ad_watched, ad_rewarded_completed, ad_show_result, notification_permission_result, notification_prompt_action, review_prompted, share_colony_card, save_integrity_failed.

Firebase also records its standard app events (for example first open, session start, screen view and app update), a random app instance ID, the device model, operating system version, app version and approximate country. Advertising identifiers are not used for analytics unless you are 18 or older and have agreed to personalised ads.

These events carry game-related information only (for example which planet was unlocked, or which tutorial step you reached). No personal information, location, contacts, photos or any other content on your device is read.

4.3 Ads

The game contains optional rewarded ads and occasional interstitial ads, served through Google AdMob. AdMob may process data such as device identifiers and IP address for ad delivery and fraud prevention.

AdMob's own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

Ads are served by Google AdMob or Unity Ads. Unity Ads may process data such as device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, device information and ad interactions for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. The consent and age rules above apply to Unity Ads in the same way. Unity's privacy policy: https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy

4.4 Purchases

In-app purchases are handled by Google Play or the App Store. Payment details go directly to the store; we never see or store card details. From the store we receive only whether a given product was purchased.

To verify purchases and keep purchased entitlements in sync across devices we use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.). RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt / transaction data provided by the store (product ID, purchase and expiry dates, transaction ID) together with a randomly generated anonymous app user ID; no name, e-mail address or card details are sent. RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

The Orbit Pass is a monthly auto-renewing subscription. You can cancel it at any time from your store account; if you cancel, you keep it until the end of the current period.

4.5 Cloud backup

If you are 13 or older, your save file is backed up automatically while you play (at most every 30 minutes):

If you are under 13, nothing is backed up automatically. A backup is made only when you tap "Back up now" yourself.

Colony League. If you are 13 or older, opening the league table sends your weekly league score, your chosen emblem and the same anonymous identifier to Firebase. The table shows a colony name generated from the identifier, never your real name. If you are under 13 or have not given your age, nothing is sent for the league; you can still view the table.

Firebase's privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

4.6 Notifications

If you grant permission, the game sends reminder notifications. These are scheduled on your device, not pushed from a server. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device settings.

4.7 Google Play Games and Game Center (achievements, cloud save)

The game's milestones are also shown as achievements in Google Play Games (Android) and Game Center (iOS). This only works if you are already signed in to that service on your device; the game never asks you to sign in or create an account. When it works, Google or Apple receives your player ID for that service and which achievements you unlocked (with progress for counting achievements). We do not receive your Google or Apple account details. You can sign out or turn the service off at any time in the Play Games app or in your iPhone's Game Center settings.

On Android, while you are signed in to Play Games, a copy of your save file (the same game progress that is stored on your device) is also kept in your Play Games account using Google's Saved Games service. This is what lets you continue on a new device with the same account. It is stored by Google, not by us, and you can delete it in the Play Games app. This is not available on iOS yet.

If you declare an age under 13, the game does not contact Play Games or Game Center at all, and no save is stored in your Play Games account.

4.8 Crash reports

If you are 13 or older, the game uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to report crashes and errors so we can fix them. A crash report contains the crash log (which part of the game's code failed), the device model, operating system version, app version, the game screen that was open, and a random identifier for this installation that is used only to count how many devices are affected.

Crash reports are not linked to your identity and are not used for tracking or advertising. We do not attach your cloud backup ID, league colony name or any account to them. Crash reporting stays off until you answer the age question, and it is never switched on if you declare that you are under 13; in that case any crash reports waiting on your device are deleted.

A crash report may also include the last few in-game events recorded by our analytics before the crash (for example which screen was opened). These events carry no name, account or contact details, and they are only used to understand what led to the crash.

We respond to requests within 30 days at the latest.

9. Children's privacy

The game is not directed at children under 13. If you declare an age under 13, ads, analytics, automatic cloud backup and Play Games / Game Center achievements are switched off entirely. If we learn that we collected data from a child without knowledge, we delete it immediately; you can report such a case to shaumnegames@gmail.com.

Crash reports are also switched off for users under 13 (see 4.8).

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date is revised. Significant changes are announced inside the app.
